Why it all started

I have made the decision to be a Power BI expert. Not an expert within my department or company but an expert in relation to all users of Power BI. I have also made the decision to share my journey toward this goal, learning, documenting, and providing a resource for others interested in advancing their knowledge and skill level with Power BI. Not all who visit will need to have the same ambition or goals.

I love to learn, I love to help others learn, and I love the potential of Power BI to help organizations understand their business through data analytics and reporting. There is no tool available, accessible, and with a wider community of users than Power BI.

DAXist.com is my medium to “Show Your Work” as Austin Kleon would encourage and has articulated in his series of books. Creating clean, clear, dynamic, and insightful content in Power BI is the artform I pursue — my craft is turning data into actionable insights.

Also important is the idea of the “shitty first draft” from XXX. Our biggest ambitions and goals need to be put out in the world without concern for their absolute quality. Quality is what comes from the process of creating, from the practice of practicing, and from the feedback of others.

I have decided to first pursue the PL-300 to focus my knowledge and skill development for this journey.

I am also new to WordPress and know with time this will become less intimidating and I will be able to publish content in a style and structure that I like. For now just putting these strings of words and graphics together is good enough – and feels like a great accomplishment!

Stay tuned for more!
